The film follows the story of Spirit, a wild mustang stallion living in the American West. After being captured by horse traders, Spirit embarks on a perilous journey to return to his home in the Cimarron Valley. Along the way, he meets new friends, including a crippled but spirited colt named Rain, and a rugged old horse named Little Creek.
