The movie begins with Robert Langdon, a professor of symbology at Harvard University, who is accused of murdering a famous physicist, and subsequently, he is invited to Vatican City to attend the Conclave, where a new Pope is to be elected. However, the event is disrupted by the appearance of the Illuminati, who seek to destroy the Catholic Church.
